Replacement Tires?

Replacement Tires?
With 40k on the clock, the OE Michelins are due for replacement soon. I have the standard 16x7.5" rims & was wondering what those who have replaced their tires already would recommend. I was also thinking about oversizing the size a bit to say a 235 or 245 to prevent rim scuffing.
I've heard good things here about the Toyo's, but frankly, their distribution channel stinks.
I live in the Bay Area, so snow is not a factor.
Thanks.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. Hard to believe the difference they made in handling, wet and dry. Getting good wear. Low noise. VERY expensive. I'll never look again. Well at least for several years.

I am currently using the Toyo FZ4, 225/55ZR16 size. They don't seem to fit well with the amount of torque and weight of the car. You might want to try the more upgraded versions of the Toyos. Right now, I am not too satisfied.
If you upgrade up, I think the next size that will fit the car and it's specs would be 245/50ZR16.
I used to drive a 1994 Z28, similiar power to the GS400, I went through a lot of tires! I think the best ones would be BF Goodrich Comp T/A...
Michelin is good, but you pay a lot for them...
Try Discount tire, but Tire rack is good too...

I got rid of my Bridgestone Potenza RE030's and ordered a set of Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z's. These tires are new but are getting awsome reviews from everyone. I was going to by the A/S Goodyear Pilot Sports but took a chance with the Bridgestones due to the overwhelming positive feedback they have been getting from owners. The RE030's are horrible tires for any kind of bad weather, especially snow. They are noisy and do not ride very well. The do provide better handling though !!

If you live in the Bay Area, best place is Costco. You could have them order you the Potenza S-03, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, or BFG g-Force KDWS, depending on your preference. You probably have more choices if you were to go with 16". Basically anything that Michelin/Bridgstone/BFG makes, they can get for you, it takes about 3 days for them to order. Price wise, the KDWS is lowest, next is S-03, then Pilot Sport A/S. KDWS and Pilot Sport A/S are comparable in terms of performance and identical in specs, since they are both made by Michelin. The KDWS are only half as much as the A/S but doesn't look as aggressive.
Costco prices can't be beat, espeically when you factor in the mounting, balancing, installation, and road hazard warranty costs from places like America's Tire or Just Tires. Costco charges just $8/tire for mounting and lifetime balancing/rotation,road hazard warranty.
We have stock 17" rims so we didn't have to worry too much about damage like some with 18"-20" rims that require delicate handling.
