Michelin says to put 2 new tires on REAR... does that me I shouldn't rotate them?
I had to order two new tires from Tire Rack because they were damaged.
The undamaged tires had only 10,000 miles, so I didn't want to waste money
getting a whole set of tires. The two new tires are identical to the old tires.
Michelin's website said I should have the new tires mounted on the REAR,
so that's what I had the tire shop do. It's supposed to be safer because
the new tires on the REAR will have better traction in rain.
It's been 5000 miles.... so I'm confused... should I now stop rotating the tires?
If I do, the newer tires will end up on the front, which is against what Michelin
recommends.
Any advice appreciated!

Yah, you are reading into it a little too much... The recommendation is to always install the better tires on the rear, but, lets be realistic, so long as the other two tires still have decent treadwear left, go ahead and rotate them... don't rotate them if they are worn below say 4 or 5/32's, just wait and replace... if above that, please rotate...
