Taller Tires / More Comfy Ride?
OK, mine isn't uncomfy per se, but I am curious if it could me more comfy....
Here's what I currently an rolling:
Bridgestone Pole Position S03s
R 275-35-ZR19
F 245-40-ZR18
Considering one step taller, not wider, on both front and back.
Logic would lead me to believe, more air, more cushion, more comfort. Right?
Also, more air, more cushion, more rim protection? Not that it is a big issue here in NC...
Fitment issues? Can a tire be too tall?
A teeny more sidwall flex, but that will depend more on the tires; would probably stick with S03s.
Maybe a little more "tucked" appearance? That is a side issue, not something I am striving for.
Thanks

Another issue would be speedometer inaccuracy. I'd imagine that would also equate to VSC, ABS and Nav inaccuracies as well (but maybe not). May not matter anyway since OEM's are slightly shorter than what everyone is using/recommending here/tirerack anyway.

I went 1step taller to 275/40/18 and you're right, the ride is more comfy

When you say If you go 275/40/19, it'll be too tall...., what happens? I mean, will the susp components be damaged? Rubbing? Bottoming out? Just trying to determine managable risk.
What I don't want, is for my fronts to look like I have donuts on them, and my rears to look like I have lowrider gokart wheels.
Thanks guys.

dex,
i have seen this benz with tyres that were too tall and resulted in suspension component damaged...call tyrerack and ask for their additional input on this matter

Personally, I think you'll be OK...20" setups are "too tall" also so basically, you'll have the same OD as a standard 20" setup (245/35-20 and 275/30-20 are typical 20" setups)...
I was thinking about the same thing but with 19" wheels running larger sidewall tires to get the extra comfort and lift...with a 20" OD setup as above, your car sits higher and has more ground clearance...about a 1/2"...so you can lower your car 1/2" more than a typical 19" or 18" setup and have the exact same ground clearance!
Your speedo with be off but who cares? You know it's off, compensate, don't constipate!

Nobody has mentioned the effect taller tires (versus stock) have on gearing... can you say "slowrider?"
This is a pretty big deal on small 4-banger Civics, etc, but it's not as noticeable on bigger-displacement cars, though.

No worries, mate! My 376 LSD helps out with that!
