how do you define the perfect offset? do you want your tires to be perfectly flush with your fenders? im going to be buying 19x8.5 for front and 19x10 for rear. what do i want the offset to be?

it depends... if you want to run a narrow tire stretched, then you can get away with lower offsets, but if you want a wide, meaty tire, then higher offsets are key

im thinkin i want 235/35/19 for front and 265-275/30/19 in the rear.
to my understanding you want alot of possitive offset if you plan to slam the car or tuck the tires into wheel well. but if you just want a nice drop with out rubbing, and about 1/2" between wheel and fender, it would look best flush.
so is there a way i can figure out what offset i would need with the sizes listed above to make the tires flush with fenders?

perfect ofset in my mind is one that doesnt rub and fills the wheel wells as much as possible. The manufacturers already do all the homework. I am not into rolling fendaers. Doesnt seem right to modify fenders for wheels that should be made for your car. VIP and 22" fitments ( on a 3GS) is for the braver

also another question, what are the pros and cons of having staggered rims, i know they help with cars that have alot of understeer, but are there any other reasons? probably help with launching and getting faster 60'ft. times, if the torque converter is up too it anyway..

butwill it drive/handle differentely? do most ppl on here do staggered on there x50? are most just doing it for looks to have a bigger lip in the rear?
or actually that would just be the offset that changes how much lip there is right?

Positive offset does not = flush...

And people's interpretation of "flush" varies.

For a 2IS, my version of perfect would be 20x9.5 + 20x11.0
with offsets in the twenties.

But that's me.

Air saws are good.

Actually, a staggered setup is to prevent oversteer... oversteer is when the rear wants to come around on corners, so we put a wider tire there to help prevent that... understeer is when the front doesn't have enough traction and the car wants to go off the road in a straight line (also called push)

offset doesn't change the lip for the most part, the width and design of the wheel does...
