Default How are the Bridgestone Potenza RE 960 AS Pole Positions tires

I just ordered new rims and tires yesterday from TireRack.com and wanted to know what other people thought about the Bridegstone Potenza RE 960 AS Pole Position tires. From people that have used these tires how are they in the in dry, wet and snowy conditions? I know they are the #1 rated all season tire for ultra high performance category and just wanted some peoples opinions of the tire.

Thanks in advance, Cliff

Hey Rhode Island -

I have a set of these on a '03 BMW 540iT and they are the best tires it has ever had. It rains here alot and is getting down into the 40's now at night so soon it may be freezing again. These tires will do fine for me in light snow, but are as you know, not snow tires. If I had to deal with snow all the time, I would have to get another set of wheels with dedicated snows on them.
I find these 960 All Seasons, to be a great bad weather tire and are alot quieter and smoother, no tramlining, like the Michelin Pilot Sports I took off.
And again, as you know, anytime you exceed the laws of physics especially in the snow, well, you are are on your own..
Around here alot of people already have studded tires on perhaps because they are really bad drivers or are going up to the snowline alot..
Good luck with your new tires ! DanF

Hey Cliff, I have these on my GS 245/45/17, they are great in the rain and excellent on dry surface, I dont drive my car much in the snow, but the few times I've drove in the snow, I take very easy with snow mode on, as mentioned above there not snow tires, but handle there own in all weather conditions.

Thanks Dan and RI-Lex for your opinions. I plan on babying my car and driving like a grandma/slow if I have to drive it in the snow because it is rear wheel drive and good horse power LOL.
Any other opinions?

I'm running 245/40/18F and 275/35/18R. They handle very well but I can't comment on snow. The only thing I don't like is that they were loud when new and ever louder now that they are worn. However, I think size has a lot to do with noise levels. My wife had the same brand but in 215/55/16 on her old es300 and the tires were very quiet. Its time to replace my tires but I'm going to look at something else now that I've moved to Ca from Nc and I'm leaning more along the line of a summer tire instead of a/s

I own a RX330 2005 (yea...a grand old daddy ) and looking for set of new tires. I am in NJ and don't really get that much snow (at least not every year).

I have gone thru several forums and I do see the feedback that the CC2 is good for wet and snow traction. On the flip side several folks including Tirerack have highlighted less MPG. I am not sure if CC2 is a right fit for my use. I am reviewing the following. Any suggestions?
  1. Michelin - CrossClimate2
  2. Michelin - Primacy MXM4
  3. Bridgestone - DRIVEGUARD PLUS
  4. Bridgestone - ALENZA AS ULTRA
