What PSI are you supposed to keep tires at? The tire specs or car specs?

Do you keep aftermarket wheels at the tire specs or the car specs (which is always much lower). I think alot of tires have max PSI's of like 55-60....what is a good PSI to keep them at and is there any advantages/disadvantages of keeping them closer to the max PSI or keeping them alot lower?

on my current car, not a lexus, i keep them at a few psi over the stock pressure. I dont think there is a set pressure for a tire, I would think it depends on the vehicle you have them installed on as they can greatly vary in weight so you would use a variation of the stock pressure.

Inflating a tire higher will make the ride more firm, might make your contact patch for traction smaller, and wear the center of the tire if inflated too much

Inflating a tire lower will make the ride less firm, raise your contact patch (people at autocross and drag strips lower their psi for traction), probably wears your tires out faster, makes your tires wear on the sides if deflated too much

to me it depends on the size. if you have 17s, then almost factory. if you have 18s, i would do like 36 to 37. if you have 19s or 20s, i would do 40. that's my preference. oh and it's at cold, of course

Is there any advantage in keeping the rears a few PSI higher than the fronts? On my 20's, I did about 42 PSI in front and 45 in rear (this was warm).

the other way, i would think you want to keep the rear pressure a bit "lower" so it has a bit more traction? if you have higher pressure in the back, it's more likely to break loose
