Tire sizes for 8" wide wheel
I just bought some sc430 wheels for my sc300 and was wanting to know if a 255 would fit. I know its extreme as the internet dealers only suggest a 245 as max. The wheels are 18x8 and I want the widest tire possible. I was thinking of a 255/35/18 but if this doesnt work then the 245/40/18 will be my choice. Anybody with pictures would be helpful as I would like to know what the sidewalls look like on 18s to help decide the size.
Thanks
Chris

waay too fat imho. the walls will be flexing like craze. 225 - 245/35 might a better choice depending on what tire brand you're going with. certain brands offer much better clearance issues if this is such a problem. what brand tires are you planning to run?

imho, i'd run a 225 on an 8" rim. if i had to, i'd go with a 235 max. no more. sidewall flexing suxors. if you want to run wide tires safely, get wider rims.
as far as Kumho's go. i'd get the 225/40 Ecsta MX's. as far as BFG's go, i'd go with the KDW2' in 215/225. i'd lean towards the 215 because Bfg's are meatier. have you considered Fuzion ZRi's? i'm running them on my G coupe 245/35/19 on 9.5" / 275/30/19 on 10.5" and i like them better than Falken ST115's. they are priced very attractively too. i also use GRB FK 451's when i want to switch it up a notch in the performance dept. i'm a Falken nutt!
good luck with your search.

I guess I'll probably go with the 245/40s as I think that's what came on the SC430 factory. Yeah, Falkens are good tires from the luck I've had with them. I've run those before on my Altima and Pathfinder, but those were larger tires, not so much low profile. What about the Falcon Ziex?
