Re-painting rims
I have a 1994 SC300, and I don't like the look of my stock rims anymore. The paint is starting to fade around the hub cover, they are covered in permanent brake dust stains that i cannot seem to dissolve, I've tried several things. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone is aware of the cost of having the stock rims repainted, be it silver or a different color. I seem to recall a thread a while ago, regarding someone who had repainted their stock SC rims black, on their own. I was unable to turn up anything on my search. Is anyone aware of where to get a repaint done, and the cost? Thanks a lot. Also, if someone can manage to turn up that old thread, i would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks, but i'm still interested in the re-paint, just to know the costs and hassle (if any) of having it done?
Thanks, but I've got the information I need at this point.

Your best bet would be to do some sanding to prep it (or paint remover, I suppose)... primer it and paint... then do what you need to do for a nice semi-clear finish (wetsand?)
I'll tell you when I get my wheels done in about 2 weeks (I'm sick of chrome... and I can't afford new wheels... ballin on a budget baby hahahahah )

I think I'm gonna do what /Aerostar\ did to his rims. Seems pretty easy and for only $15 bucks, a nice touch on the stock wagon wheels of the SC. He sanded the rims, washed them, used "Prep All"/rubbing alcohol, then sprayed on 2-3 coats of Dupli-Color 500 Degree (High Temp) Engine Gloss paint to the rims, and finished with 2 coats of Dupli-Color Clear to protect. His rims are lookin good even a couple of months after! so for $15 bucks and 1-2 days every year, i think his method is quite good.
