Restoring Zauber Gettins
I was wondering how hard would it be to restore a set of Zauber Gettins? The clear coat on the face is messed up. Theyre is lines in the clear which was caused by the wheel sitting for a long time. The clear coat on the lip is cracking and looks ugly.
Id like to unblot the wheels but i dont really know how to. Ive read that its a pain to do because you have to clean off the old sealant real good or the rim will leak. Does anyone have the torque specs for the bolts/screws? Also what would I use to reseal the 2 pieces?
Whats the best way to remove the clear coat from the face of the wheel? I cant sand it because id ruin the metal finish. Is there something that I can spray on that will melt the clear and not damage the metal under it?

wow damn thsi is bad..... i don't know, i think it's hard. the finish from japan is different from those people can get in the US. that's like a polish silver (not the high plish we get here) and then clean coat. i don tknow if you will be able to stripe off the clear coat and then clean them and put on new coat and make the wheels look the same
definitely ask around in hawaii to see if they know any good shop?

I used airplane paint stipper that they sell at walmart.I did that on an old set of wheels to remove the factory clear. It did not hurt the finish at all.Try it out on an old wheel and see.

you could wetsand the clear off...i've done that before...once the clear is gone..you can just polish the lips yourself...
lots of work but the outcome can be remarkable!
