shims that go on the back of the pads. When you order parts from the dealer, theyll know what youre talking about. Get the shim kit and hardware kit new. i suggest Jeff Watson at carson toyota. Everything for front and rear was about $50

Yeah they do. Also, a few have reported that without them, the brakes have felt spongy. Not sure what kind of mechanism is behind it, but after installing them, the pedal tightened up and response improved.
