Need advice on 20" whl / tire combo
Hi. This is my first post. I hope it's in the right section. I'm thinking about putting 20" Zinik Sabini wheels on my 2001 GS300 and most of the package prices I've found come with 245/45/20 tires -- www.thewheelconnection.com
After reading some posts, it seems most owners run 245/35/20 series tires. What is recommended? Are there any problems with alignment, abnormal outer-edge wear, rubbing, etc. when running 20"? Would like to put on 19" wheels instead, and run larger profile tires (for ride quaility), but most of the wheels I like don't come in 19".
Any advice? Thanks!
- Doug

well, the wear will depend on your drop and alignment. as for 19", you can go w/ the "fat setup" 245/40 Front and 275/35 Rear. 20" w/ 40F and 35R series is too big. 19' w/ fatsetup is your best bet if you want the ride quality and also depending on the tires as well.

Thanks for the info everyone. Is it true that 19" tires are as expensive as 20"?
Is $2400 for a set of 20" Gianelle Oval 6, mounted, balanced, installed on car, with lug nut locks a good deal -- from my local shop? (Plus 7.5% sales tax... ouch.) I asked them about tires. They said I had my choice of Nitto, Sumitomo, and another -- can't remember. What tire should I ask for? I'm looking for combo of tread wear / ride.

245/35 20
245/45 20 will rub. 245/35 should be ok depending on how much you drop it you may want to consider 245/30 20. I recommend the Michelin PS2 or Pirelli P Zero Nero.

Brandon,
Does Tirerack carry Gianelle? What would delivered price be to zip code 66062 -- Kansas -- for a set of 4 (20" Oval 6 & the tire you recommend). Would be nice to save the sales tax.
Sorry, I'd call, but I'm at work.
