Default New Wheels and Tires, how big can you go.

Its time to get some new tires. The SO3 are getting old. Never liked the look on the back of the 17 inch Wheel option. Like the SSR Wheels. Want to change the rear look with something big and fat, not just fat. I assume someone has figured out how big(tall) you can go, with or without spacers. Not trying to get the wheel bigger than 18 or 19. May consider the next goodyear F1 tires over P03 which are very noisy..

Any success stories would be appreciated. Its a 99 GS400 Black and Black. Don't want a new car just a new look.

Anyone every cured the nosiy tire sound on the GS400?

welcome to the forums bro

i have 99 gs4 , i run 19x10 in the rear which is about as wide as you can go without other issues and i have 19x8.5 front.. i also have the goodyears f1 gs-d3 with a 275/30/19 in the rear .. have had this setup for about 7k+ miles and no noise whatsoever, although its not 17in quiet but not audible to the intrained ear..

the mods will move this thread soon to the wheel and tire section

I'm also running a 275 width rear on 18x9.5 wheel and, assuming the proper offset, it fills the wheel well perfectly! I can also highly recommend the Goodyears! Mine have around 10k on them and I will definitely be getting them again when these are worn out. Relatively quiet, very smooth and NO uneven wear at all-even with some negative camber.

The tire noise I saw with my S03's were caused by an out-of-whack alignment. The lower you go the more issues you will have with uneven wear and the noise it causes. I switched to the Goodyear's too, but I'm tempted to go back to the S03's because of the handling aspects.

And as far as looks go, the S03's look better. They have a squarer tread and sidewall. The Goodyear's sidewalls are rounded and softer.

I think the Goodyears look really cool- awesome tread design! But some people have said they felt the sidewall was a bit soft for ultimate handling precision. So many variables in something like that, but like most car mods, there is always a trade-off somewhere...
