19" or 18"
I am going to order the L-tuned suspension setup and hopefully new rims. Should I go with 19" or 18". the 19" with rubber is about $500 more. I curently have OEM 17's
I am looking at speedline 2209 rims with pilot a/s tires
Thanks

I am not sure on the weight difference. I will have to research this.
Is the advantage of the 19 due to filling the wheel well?
Also the wife thinks sticking with OEM and new rubber is the best??
Do I need new brakes if I go with 19's

There are pros/cons for each (IMHO):
18s over the 19s
Pros:
1) Cheaper (both Tires/Rims)
2) Will be faster than if you got the 19s. The bigger the wheel, the slower your car will be (rotation physics).
3) Handling - Bigger wheels = rougher handling
4) Use the extra $500 to get Ltuned or eibach/bilstein shocks/struts
Cons:
1) Will not fill out your wheelwell. You will still have a gap between the tire, and the top of your wheel well. This can be eliminated by getting shocks/springs with that extra $500. Still would fill out the the wheel well better with 19s
19s over the 18s
Pros:
1) Looks - Probably would compliment you car a lot more than 18s. It would fill the wheelwell better. Also a staggered look can make your car look more aggressive.
2) Handling in turns. More tire to the pavement (depending on your sizing)
3) Looks!
Cons:
1) More prone to getting bent
2) Road Harshness, but you will get that with 18s too
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you want to keep your performance, adn have the look, go with the 18s and get some aftermarket parts with the money you save. If you don't mind losing a little power, but a really on the looks. I agree with bluelex, if you already have the Ltuned suspension, go with the 19s.
Also, unless you are going turbo, or SC; you really don't need to swap your brakes. The stock GS brakes are exceptional in stopping.

I am sort of leaning to this.
L-tuned springs/shocks and sways
18" Speedline 2209's with Mich pilot a/s
All ordered and installed for <$3200.
is this price too high??

18's will still give you the "stock" feel with L-tuned suspension. It looks great and it gives the car a slightly different look from a stock GS. If you go with 19's YES you will fill the wheel well gap up, but you will also feel the road more with noticeable amount of road noise to the cabin.

That comparison as perfect as can get. I have 19's and I can agree to all the pros and cons. You want to make sure you are firm on your decision so that you don't have regrets. Here's something you should think of, if your going for a spoke design, you should go for 19's if your original intent was to get 18's. Spoke wheels give the look of a smaller rim in my opinion. My 19's are a dish design and people mistaken mines for 20's because of the dish design. Here is a pic so you can get an idea. BTW I am dropping this sucker next week.

upgrade wheels vs wife
is this price too high??
if you spend $3200 or higher and **** your wife off is that price to high.
i talked my wife into letting ne get some cast 20" wheels in dec and i was just about ready to order and i could tell if i did i would be paying a heavy toll here at home so i skipped it and compromised and got the torsen 3.76 lsd.
its not worth it if the wife isn't going for it.

You sound WHIPPED!! Who wears the pants in the family? (just jokin)
I never consulted with the wife before I ordered my wheels/tires. I told her about a week later. She was cool about it. She knows the car is my hobby and it was my hard earned money that was gonna pay for it.
Actually....all my mods....the wife never questioned me on it or how much it costed me.
All she asked is that I don't flip out when she buys another LV bag.
