Replacing shocks, do I have to do springs too?

Default Replacing shocks, do I have to do springs too?

At 192k the ride is a little boingy. The question is (which I can't find a specific answer to after searching) do the springs need to be changed out too, or will just swapping shocks be enough? I'd hate to take everything apart and find out the springs are worn as well.

Or do the springs last forever?

No, they don't need to be replaced necessarily but also no, they don't last forever. Verify their condition when you remove the strut assemblies.

What would you recommend if I wanted to go a hair stiffer than stock?

No. Although the factory wheel gap looks ridiculous and there's nothing rice about reducing it to a reasonable height while improving performance, you're free to do as you like. There is no spring on the market (as far as I know) that is both stiffer and stock height, but the Tanabe NF210 and the TEIN H.Tech offer a minimal drop and very modest increases in spring rate.
