considering HKS Hipermax IV GT
Currently on stock suspension with 65.5k..front struts leaked and need replacing pretty soon but the rear is fine. Living in NYC and commuting daily to NJ im looking for a comfortable lowered suspension. I hear the HKS hipermax IV GT coilovers have been tuned for the street and considering the 7k/6k spring rates, they shouldn't be that stiff and should be relatively comfy over road undulations that are very common in the northeast. Im also looking into Swift lowering springs paired with Koni FSD shocks. However, it might not be as low as id like it to be and ive noticed they have a negative rake which I don't like. Upside is the swift springs are the most comfortable and the FSD shocks have great reviews, they perform superbly over bumpy roads. Another major concern I have is the metal upper mounts on the coilovers are not as forgiving as the stock rubber upper shocks mounts. How badly is the ride affected without the stock rubber mounts? Thanks for the input guys.

Not that important with the top hat. Metal or not it all determines on the Shock body if its suited for comfort or can handle bumps. the Megan and BC have so much good reviews. People compared it as comfortable to stock shocks. The lower you are the less comfort you get. If you want your own lower height then coilovers is the way to go.

earlier this month I was in the same situation, my factory shocks were pretty shot, I was on the fence on getting BCs with swifts, but for a few hundred more I chose Hypermax GT IVs.
I am very happy with the purchase and the ride is very comfortable. I don't do any spirited driving but I do feel a significant difference in the handling compared to my stock shot shocks which is to be expected.
The good thing about the Hipermax's is they're ready to go out of the box, they come with the preload set and the height is a conservative drop with more room to go lower, after a few days of driving they did settle a bit lower.
Here it is a few days after install

theyre a few hundred more but im thinking the IV may be a better choice since theyre a newer design. nevertheless, the CLX ride great from reviews Ive read. Just too bad theyre so pricey..

The ride is very comfortable, definitely better than my stock shot shocks, I would say as comfortable as fresh factory suspension, I didn't take any measurements but I dont rub or scrape on out of the box settings, I'm still playing with the damper I have it at 22 in front 20 in rear compared to how they came at 15 front and 15 rear and I'm happy with it
