Just bought a 2001 GS430! Coils first but which ones..
I been reading alot through the forum and I just want something more specific. I want to spend less the 1000 dollars and as for my driving, the car will never see a track and it is just a daily driver that I want to lower for a clean look. (Not super slammed).
I noticed alot of people running Megans and they seem like the best bang for the buck but Iv also read alot of people are having problems with them after a few months. So guys I need help please!! Thanks for all the input ahead of time!

Well... it sounds like you somewhat answered your own question. I'm not going to rag on Megan products, but IMO their coilovers are too softly sprung for the weight of this car. My advice would be to save your money and buy one of the better products which can be had for an extra $1-300. I always recommend Fortune, but BC and Powered by Max both offer comparable entry-level coilovers.

I just don't want to spend alot of money on coilovers since its a 15 year old car, if it was newer Id go out and look at the more expensive sets but for this car I just want to stay under the 1000 dollar budget for coilovers. I know megans are under that mark and I was just wondering if there were any better ones that would fit that criteria. Again, this car wont be raced or slammed, just a daily driver so I dont need some insane set-up.

Then get the Megans. If you wait until around a holiday then you can probably pick up one of the better sets for under $1k but by then you could've already saved up the extra coin for them. Not sure what to tell you...
EDIT: Actually, if you're not slamming or aggressively driving your car then why do you want coilovers to begin with? You could get by with a decent drop with a set of springs/RCAs.

Don't know if you already bought something but my car is on replacement KYB's and Eibach Pro's and I love the height and ride quality. I also drove my car all last winter which was a rough one here in NH and I had no issues.
Coilovers are the biggest waste of money unless you're going to use their adjustable features (I.E. racecar) and are spending at least $2300. Case in point I have K&W V3's on my play car.

Pole Position
Figure I'd join in on this thread. I'll be getting some coils for my GS soon, and was leaning towards BC since they seem to be decent value (In Australia I'm looking at around $1200-1300). What sort of spring rate will I be looking for? I want it to ride well, and they come with 10kg F and 8kg R, but you can change for no cost. Will 14F 12R be too stiff? I was also thinking 12F 10R.

I just installed mine yesterday and I got 16k/14k and they dont seem crazy stiff. If I had to buy them again I would either buy the same ones or get 14k/12k but I dont think I would go higher or lower then that unless your going with some crazy setup where youll need really stiff springs.
