Question Cost of Brakes?

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have been reading through the threads. Most of you are speaking with terms that look like a foreign language to me and I apologize if the simplicity of my question doesn't belong here. But does anyone know what I should be charged to get new brake pads on my 2011 is250? It's a 2wd. Someone quoted me $430 and I feel like either he is taking advantage or me or he has simply lost his mind.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Also keep in mind they're likely including labor costs which can be $$$. Have him provide you with an itemized quote to tell you what exactly you're paying for.

Hello,

Pads: $43.79 for the pair of Akebono Performance Ultra Premium Performance Pad part number ASP908

Labor for replacing the front pads is approximately 1 hour for both pads. In reality it probably would take them about 20 minutes. Estimated cost $100

If brake rotors are needed...

Rotors: $53.79 for the pair of Raybestos Advance Technology Rotors part number 980494

Labor for the rotors should be an additional one hour or an additional $100.

Prices are from rock auto.

So for just pads I would not pay over $150 for the job.

For pads and rotors I would not pay more than $350 for the job.

Mike
