This might help.
If you have a spring compressor to hold the coils together while you thread the perches up and down it might help you out.
I wouldn't worry too much about spring length, because you can always adjust the spring perch to compensate.
- Reduce pressure on the springs first by lowering the spring perches that raise the spring.
- Then you want to undo the top nut that holds the strut mount.
- Take off the mount and then remove and replace the spring.
- Re-thread the perch back up as far as you need to ensure there is pressure against the spring and it will not move.
