I'am told by dealer that my RR cv boot is torn and in need of replacement. I live in an apartment, have no where to do this inspection myself. They tell me I need to replace the complete axel as Lexus does not provide a boot only replacement. I've never heard of this on any car, all Toyotas, this is my first Lexus. How much do they want to do this? $1,000+

While I cannot comment on whether or not your car needs it, I can confirm that you cannot replace the boot and must replace the entire axle. The boots are not a serviceable item.

RWD or AWD?

You CAN have just the boot replaced, but it is not easy. I assume you would have a shop do this repair for you. Here's a new RWD boot and components :

My IS250 is a 2007 AWD, Breakwater Blue with only 70,000 on the OD. Great car, handles good, just want to know how deep the B.S. is. Thanks for your response.

They are lying to you. Boots are replaceable if a new boot and grease can be found. I just did my mother in law 4matic benzo as they were torn. 2wks and 1000 miles no signs of leaks
