Default BBK issues (detailed explanation)

Hmm, i never see anything in regards to BBK installs that has problems. Everyone just likes to talk about how they have it

Here is what i have noticed with this stoptech 6/4. Unsure of the actual rotor size though i think its 355mm front and rear though.

i did buy it used from another member, and then powder coated them to my preference. (pics to come).

I have a shop in West LA, and we ran into a couple problems when installing these BBKs. First off i would like to mention i have a 2007 is350, i would like to think its one of the heavily modded IS's on the road but thats just my opinion based on all the costs i have put into the car. anyways, the front went on without a hitch. easy breezy, removed the dustshield no problem. The rears were a different story... okay so the old rotors came off. no problem. then we went to put the new bbk rotors on and.... dustshield was too small. so we had to take off the e-brake and dusthsield( which is welded together, thanks lexus) and hen use flat head screw drivers and other things to break free the dustshield from the e-brake mechanism and such. there were a few weld points where we pried it free.

after that... we were ready to put the rotors on. okay cool that was a piece of cake after all that stuff we did. bleeding took no time at all as well. we put the wheels on , turned the car on and the car hazard lights lit up like a damn chritmas tree, we got the ABS, BRAKE, traction control and P/S lights on. andd CHECK VSC in the display. after using a scanner that read "check rear speed senors " we checked them and they were either too small or too big. (cant remember right now) so we ordered the correct length and they are 200 ea, fml haha.

AND these new rotor hubs i guess changed the offset of my wheels which rub in new places that never ribbed before... i'll show pics of where i cut things our in the front fende rliner area.

thanks for reading my little half rant half explanation.

Here are all the lights that popped up ha:

Well, we did get it all sorted (refer to the pics on post 9

Here are some final pics though:

So major rear rotor installation issues it sounds like; those with similar BBKs need to comment on their experiences.

I have 355mm rotors for my BBK and didnt have any issues like this. We just pounded/bent the dust shields to allow the rotors to go on. They dont serve the same purpose since, as you said, they are too small now. I'm assuming when yall took apart the e-brake and such something got messed up? Not sure, i had no errors or problems with the install like this.

I'm no brake expert, but if the rotors pushed your wheels out more, does that mean the rotors are the wrong size/too thick? I'm not certain, but my wheels BARELY tuck when i bag down, and fitment was the same between stock and BBK setup. Sorry to hear and hopefully someone else chimes in too.

By any chance did the kit have the Brake Shims? They go between the hub and rotor.

Sounds like the rotor "hats" were just thicker then that of the stock rotor, thus pushing the wheel out that much further out.

what Gville350 said, it didnt really change too much. i think the rears are more flush now and the fronts tuck in like a couple cm more. No complaints.

PS. no more lights on dash or any problems. (still will post pics) thanks for your responses!

Looks like you replaced the wheel bearings; were they making noise?
