Default Frozen rotor????

I am changing rotors on my 99 GS300. Are these held on by a bolt, or anything? I have completely removed the calipers, but the rotors will not budge. Are they simply frozen on there and I need to beat the hell out of them? I'm doing both the front and back. Car has over 100,000 and I think they are original rotors. Thanks!

There is nothing holding them on. They're justed rusted on. Mine were a pain in the a$$ to get off too. I used a rubber malet and just had to give them a couple good whacks. I had to kinda get under the car to have some swinging room for the rears. There is a threaded hole on the stock Lexus rotors to help with this problem. If you can find the right metric bolt you can just screw the bolt in and the rotor will just pop off. I went to the hardware store and bought 2 differents size bolts that people said were the right size and neither of them worked. Thats why I had to end up using the rubber malet. Make sure to put some anti seize on the new rotors so you don't have this problem in the future.

I don't own a GS but on the SC, for the rears, you will have to release the e-brake as they are drum design, in order to get them off. there is a procedure, try searching to find out of the GS needs similar procedure. The fronts are just rusted on, wack away...

When you live in the snow belt, it is pretty common to have rusted rotors after a few years. It is a fact of life. I am from California, but the water is so hard here.

Driving in the water and washing the car a lot are reasons the water causes the water to rust the rotors in place here. I can only imagine how rusted the rotors were after 6 or 7 years. I have to use a mallet to my rotors after 5 years here.

Enjoy your car maintenance like I do.

Here is a thread about this. You really need to get the 7 or 8mm X 1.0 pitch bolt and screw it in the pre-threaded holes in the rotors. Thread them in and tighten until they pop off. It will work. Based on the thread it is either 7mm or 8mm. I bought each one of them. One of them worked but I don't remember which one.
