springs or coilovers?? help!!!

Yeah I have an AWD and I was going to get springs, but ended up with coils. I would have regretted getting the springs unless you go with the Road Magnets. The H&R's just would not have had the drop that I was looking for. I have the megan ez coilovers.

the first link is for a RWD but you will find plenty answers in the suspension & brakes subforum. IMO Coilovers all the way.

I have Megan LP coilovers and I love them. they're really good quality and the ride quality isn't that bad. It depends how tolerant you are and what you are going for. If you are planning on running an aggressive wheel setup, get coilovers with stiffer spring rates. But if you aren't doing so and you're not picky than the Megan EZ's will be just fine. Most members here on clublexus use the Megan EZ's and for the most part, no complaints. I would always say coilovers > springs, because you can adjust them how you'd like. I've been in this position, bought springs, then had to sell them because I wanted to go lower and just to have the ability to adjust my ride height and damper.

I've got coilovers sitting at home waiting to be installed... I was considering springs, but there are some very affordable coilovers for the IS so it is hard not to just go with coils. I see too many spring setups that have uneven/weird looking drops so I did not want to waste money on springs and be unhappy with the look... I'm very picky, so I waited and found a good deal on some used coils.

True story- I ran on springs for awhile and the drop was absolutely perfect on 19s... until my shocks started to go. That dropped the rear a bit too low on bumps, caused rubbing, couldn't carry passengers in back, that sort of stuff. Then when I had to get new tires, I couldn't fit a tire in the well that had the load rating I wanted. They were cheap and a few hours to install on a weekend so it was worth a shot, and looked great for a year but I would never recommend.
Get a good quality coilover. Just know what mileage they need to be rebuilt at.
