Default TRD Door Stabilizers (for FRS)

So I was on the TRD website and I came across this part.
http://www.trdparts.jp/english/pdf/2...mark_award.pdf

It provided almost no description of what it did but I googled it and found some more info.
http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/04/...-tunes-the-86/

Apparently this mod makes the door act as a stiffening brace. It pushes the door up against the chassis.

TRD apparently just patended this. I wonder if It could be done to other Lexus/Toyotas?

Hunh... Thats awesome.
It's effectively a "wedge", so the door's tighter, basically turning it and the chassis into a unit.
Thats sick.

Doesn't look too complicated a part; Im sure we can add those onto SC's (or any car for that matter).

I think the fact that our door also weighs a ton, it's probably pretty strong and would add to the strength of the chassis.

I wonder if the car's unique door hinge would be an issue though.

Wow that is very interesting, and affordable, plus it doesnt get in the way. Out of sight, out of mind.

Yeah we do have some funny door hinges don't we lol. I think something like that would still be effective on our cars, but how much chassis twist does an SC really have in its standard form?

The FRS is a hatchback/fastback, the SC is a coupe with a solid rear firewall behind the rear seats.

Who currently doesn't have any projects and has extra time and money? And is willing to modify there door hinges? If you fit all of the above and want to be the first to do this mod, we will praise your efforts haha

I have to much other **** I'm doing to my car right now... and no money to test things that might or might not work. Or might or might not show any improvements.

But I do notice minor things when it comes to handling. Even when I installed my ebay strut bar I noticed a minor difference. So I'm sure all of the minor improvements in stiffening the chassis add up
