Got F-sport sway bar install in shop, torque not correct
I decide to ask this specific question here since that other thread seems to be getting long.
If you don't want to read the story below, I'm wondering if being torque too tight on the bracket bushings is OK or not.
So, I manage to install the rear sway bars myself but have a lot more trouble with the front. I took it to a shop on a forum member's recommendation. The install started out good, but as the installer started to tighten the bolts up, I ask his assistant if he is going to torque it to spec, he said yes (I thought that's OK, since I tighten the bolts a little bit before using a torque wrench). Then when he busted out the power tools, I question him again, is he going to use the torque wrench later, he said yes (not knowing how much power is in the power tools, I let it go); he proceed to tighten all the bolts. Then he started to put the under engine cover back on. I stopped him there and said he needs to torque it to the specified tightness on the instructions. He tried to explain it's not needed but will do it for me ... using the torque wrench he was able to turn on the bolts on the links a little bit before it clicks. But when he tried to torque the bracket bolts, it clicks without any turns. He said as long as it's tight it's OK.
My question is do you guys think too tight on the bracket is bad?
