thinking of going back to oem brake pads
I find that my hawk pads are a little noisy, squeek especially in the rain, and make noise when you come to a complete stop. Anyone else notice the same thing? I don't mind sacrificing a little braking power going back to oem just can't stand when brakes are noisy... They are brand new with new rotors... Let me know if you heard any similar stories about these pads... Thanks

That's your problem. Apply anti squeal to the back of the pads. Liberally on the back of the shim and it should solve your problem. Any if not all parts stores should have the stuff

just saw this thread, but i recommend you don't do it. if you ever buy the Toyota Parts brake pad for our car, you can see how poorly designed it was; where half of the pad had to be chamferred off to cut out noise.
You can try different brand of pads, maybe something less "sporty" then hawk, but I don't recommend the OEM Toyota part.
i personally use akebono proact, but you might get even quieter with a different pad. They only squeak once at the first braking after startup against the dead cold rotor.
Here's a google image search for what your OEM Toyota parts pad will look like. It looks definitely like an engineering whoopsee and they just hacked off 40% of the surface area to fix the mistake:

Sure, but even so, the Akebono part is completely different then the OEM Toyota part.
Partsgeek has pictures, so If you just look at the pictures, you can see they look completely different and how messed up the Toyota part is.
But yea, I've bought both the OEM replacement part, as well as akebono proacts, and they're not the same (same goes for the other akebono products).

I just don't like the thought that that was acheived by hacking away 40% of the possible surface area as compared to other brands who use all the surface area (and which can also give you no noise).
