Thumbs up Finally! No more squealing!

OK we all know these ISX50 squeal like a mother when coming to a slow stop, backing up, or when its cold. I got tried of it and back in 6/2011 I installed brand new Rotora rotors and pads for my IS350.(PS I fixed the backwards Lexus sticker btw haha) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...-stickers.html They stopped the squealling for a couple months and then it came back. So you know what happens every time you hear that sound, WTF! "There f'in brand new brakes and it a damn Lexus. haha. So I finally wanted it to stop. I tried this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=348169_0_0_ and this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=489298_0_0_. These worked for like a week then the sound would make its way back. FML. So after browsing around with no clear answer I ended up buying the front shim kit and fitting/retaining plate kit from Sewell Lexus. Fast shipping btw. Thanks Sewell.

I installed these on Saturday. The shim kit comes with 8 shims. 4 coated and 4 non coated. The fitting kit/retaining plate is just the plate and the clips that holds the pins in place. You really don't need the fitting kit unless yours is bent or broken. Any how with the shim kit, I install the coated ones first onto the pad, then I added three dabs of brake lube onto the that shim and then applied the non-coated ones over the coated shims. Re-installed everything and I was set. Its been four days of awesomeness and no squealing whatsoever. No cold squeal,no backing up squeal, no slowing down stop squeal. So far Im a happy camper.. So if you guys have squealing, try the shim kit. Its farely cheap and totally worth it. I'll let you guys know if it comes back.

I know what you mean with the sound, its embarrassing. Like I said in the OP, you really don't need the fitting kit unless your plate is broken or bent or your missing the clips that hold the pins in. The shim kit would be all you need. Goodluck and I'll update if the sound comes back.

I've not had your misfortune of that squealing, but I re-used my shims when I installed my new Powerslot rotors and StopTech pads and have not had any issues. I did use all-purpose grease to lube up the shims and slider pin though.

My original pads did not have shims in the first place. But the rotors were resurfaced from Lexus, I ended up buying new ones anyway.
