Brake Question - GS Stock Pistons?
Ok, I know this question came up a little bit ago and there was some confusion...well I took a picture...
The GS/SC/LS front brakes are all 2 piston setups. Both pistons are on ONE side and basically it pushes one pad into the rotor while it pulls the other pad (on the other side) into the other side of the rotor...
4-piston setups have pistons on BOTH sides that BOTH push into the rotor (hence better braking)...this is why most 4 piston brake systems don't fit behind your stock wheels...imagine doing a mirror image of the this picture with pistons on both sides...you can see how much wider the calipers get.
Just some FYI to put that question at rest.

Nice info Manaray. I saw recently in an article Brembo makes a 8 piston brake kit. It has 4 brake pads on each caliper. You stop a commercial jet with those things.

The 95-97 LS has a 4-piston setup per front wheel, two pistons per caliper side. It is so huge that it's impossible to put on another wheel, say from a GS, as it will not clear the bulge of the outer caliper. You need a wheel spacer.

I know over here the brand new Celsior/LS430 has a really good brake kit. It is lighter than the Supra brake kit and it is the Monoblock style. I know TRD sells the Monoblock kit that comes from the LS. It uses the same size rotor of the Supra TT.

hey aristo,
so, if i understand this correctly, the LS430 breaks(or caliper)= TRD monoblock caliper?
i understand that netz toyota offers jza80 break caliper as an aristo caliper option too...
thanks for the info..just wondering why most have not considered the celsior calipers..they are HUGH and light as you mentioned

Yes the monoblock offered by TRD is just black painted w/ the TRD logo. LS430 brakes with slotted rotors and SS lines. TRD also offers the Supra TT which is the same package deal with them painted REDI would like to but with my current wheels and offset they won't fit I need to either change rims to ave them fit in. Will I will check on that postal stuff today, sorry for the delay but I was in DC on a trip, just got back in last night and jetlagged from hell

98-00 LS has the Supra 4 pots...stock...
at least visually I cannot tell a difference. Pads, master cylinder, and rotors....different story.
