brake job question...
I am in the process of doing my 98 gs300 brakes. Everything was going well until i tried to re-install the calipers.
I noticed the caliper wold not go back on (depressed the pistons). The caliper itself hits the caliper bracket mount bolt.
Now on the mount bracket, the top hole will move in and out, bu the bottom one is stuck solid. I have tried everything to make it move.
Question is.......are both mount holes/bolts on the caliper bracket supposed to move freely, or just 1, or are they both not supposed to move?

It's a sliding caliper design, which means, both sliders pin are suppose to slide, your bottom caliper bolt is probably seized... try wiggling the bolt back and forth and see if it comes out, if it does then lubricate the bolt and reinstall it, then you'll be good to go.
If it doesn't come out you have a few options, spray from penetrating oil on the bolt itself and wait a few hours, then try again and see if it comes out. If it's seized in there, chances are you might need a new bracket, I seen brackets seize up numerous time due to lack of lubrication and maintenance
This is the 3GS section btw...

i may have screwed the bolt up............i got pissed off and tried to turn the bolt with some force. Looks like the bent the bolt a little.
Wonder if i can pull the bolt all the way out and install a new one?

Done it, same thing - had to change both calipers in the rear.... I was told keeping the car in the garage in wet climate is very bad - bottom pins stuck for good. When changing calipers don't forget to put more grease on the pins.
