ball joint, caster, damaged wheel, abs, etc
Folks,
my left front wheel collapsed as I was making a u-turn, I believe the lower ball joint gave way when I turned the steering all the way left (see pics).
and I've read threads that the bushings could have been the cause.
I had vibrating steering etc, I seemingly have to do an alignment every year when I change from my Lexus 18's to the stock OEM with snow tires and back every year.
My relative's shop is probably not that sophisticated to change the bushings out, so should I just get all the arms replaced? which arms? Sorry, I am not as familiar if it should be lower control, upper control (do they both connect to the ball joint?)
Secondly, if one doesn't change the arms or bushings, what about changing the ball joints every other year and continuing an annual wheel alignment?
BTW, I also have the ABS and other lights on now, I suppose those broke, or will they be fixed when the wheel is reattached?
More importantly, I had 2 children in the back and am questioning the integrity of my car once fixed - thus my big concern and urgent request for assistance please!
PS (what would be highly highly appreciated are part numbers, pics, any references when speaking about the potential repair needed here, so I have time to research before the mechanic goes to the stealer!)

sorry for the urgency, I'm at the mechanic shop now - the ball joints might have previously been replaced After market! so we are replacing both side ball joints, also both tension rods, should we replace the upper control arms as well??
