in general maybe, but in this case no-way.

Especially taking into account that the design for these parts were laid down 15years+ ago.

The OEM brake pads are an engineering mistake-I'm talking mainly about the front. have you looked at the actual pad? About 40% of the material is cut away as the original design wasn't right. There's no way you can convince me that the huge chamfers is part of a good design where there's no longer any need to "pursue" further "perfection". Other 3rd party pads didn't need to make those cuts in the material.

The rears don't come into play too much, so it's less of an issue there. You can go either way.

Anyway, for what it's worth, i'm using akebono proacts too...

Akebono is the manufacture of most oem Japanese cars. Not sure if the aftermarket ones are the same (even if they say akebono on them) but should be close. I run akebono with centric rotors (non vented or drilled) and I am very satisfied. Vented and drilled rotors are for looks only

After all the searching i ended with Centric and OEM rotors, i do not see much dust and no noise problem.
