Default SC300 steering prob

my 92 SC300 with 200k miles started steering funny recently. When I go into a curve it takes more steering wheel to take the curve than it used too. Also when come out of curve the steering wheel does not come back to center but the car is traveling straight. It will come back to center if you take a curve the opposite way.

Any suggestions to the cause of this...is it the rack and pinion?

Thanks in advance.

I guess its the same with my car too. Feels like a gap in the steering wheel from 11 to 1 clockwise.

rack bushings, had to do it on 2 out of my 3 SC's so far.
The third one the previous owner actually had the WHOLE rack changed because they went to the dealer for all repairs.

order the diazen rack bushings, jack your car up so your wheels are free (Ramps will make this job extremely difficult), locate and remove bushings bolts, knock out old bushings with a screw driver, replace and rebolt, and your done.

takes about an hour the first time. It helps to take certain ones out first before you start putting them back in, I cant remember but its in the DIY thread here:

check to make sure the bolt on the upper control arm is still secured. This happened to me and what happened is the nut came off and the bolt was working its way out. This is just a point to check, but yes I replaced my rack bushings as well.

n00b question here but is there a significant difference between the OEM replacement rack bushings versus the Daizen ones?

i don't know about the oem's but i really felt the difference with Daizen's and recommend them. Although not the same story with the control arm bushings, i ended up removing those after about a month cause it ruined the ride of the car and went with 97 oem bushings.

not true, lexus does sell oem control arm bushings, i ordered them from carson toyota and they are great. It's for later year sc's though, so you have to look at later year's part's catalogue. I put them in a 92 no prob.
