This topic's been covered before but I haven't seen any pictures. Here are my pictures. Down below is what happens when your lower ball joints gives out. Total cost = almost 900.00 for a 60.00 DIY project. How to know if you have bad ball joints? Park your car and turn your wheels all the way to the left or right slowly and if you hear cracking, creeking or sweeking noises from your front end you most likely have bad ball joints. That was what I'd noticed. Luckily I was going aobut 35 mph on a street that wasn't busy when it gave out, could be very bad on the freeway. Here are the pictures.
Like I've always said, if dont know if the balljoints have ever been replaced, just replace them anyways. Its better to spend $120 now than it is to spend $900+your life.
Sounds like its time for me to change my ball join. I just bought the car about 2 months ago and it is making crackling loud noise on the right front end. I wasn't sure what it was but now I should check the ball joint. Does anyone know if its a good idea to change both left and right? Or just the one that is needed to be replaced?
Yeah luckly mine went out backing out of the parking space at work. But I still messed up the fender getting in on and off the tow truck. It sir was a pain to get the old ball joint off though. But my gs has real high miles.
