ABS engaging when braking at 10mph for no reason
Last saturday i've put some work on front end suspention (Daizen bushing kit)
I was very careful removing Speed sensors on both sides, left speed sensor had some grease on the tip, i didn't wipe it or anything just left it as it was.
After all work was done installed speed sensors, NO VSC ABS lights but since that day ABS system is engaging for no reason while i'm about to stop. It seems it happend when i'm about 10mph or litlle less, every single time.
Today decided to get rid of grease from left side sensor, unfortunetly no luck, ABS is still doing same thing.
I was scheduled to replace catalytic converter and O2 sensor , took advatage of todays visit at lexus dealer and ask for ABS diagnosis..... they said speed sensor or rotors
I'm pretty sure that speed sensor failed but don't know which one, left or right, dealer pointed at left side,
Do you have idea how to find out which one is the bad one?

I don't really know the solution, but it doesn't make sense when you say that ABS is engaging.
How do you know it is engaging? ABS doesn't come into play until one or more wheels lock - then it will pulse the brakes to unlock any of the locked wheels.
If you aren't locking any of the wheels, then ABS can't do anything.

you proabably (as careful as you were) damaged the sensor or cable. the only thing i can think of is to carefully clean the surfaces that the sensor bolts to, to make sure it is seated as well as possible (there may be a lot of rust, debris etc on the surfaces). let us know how it went.

but that what is happening, i know it sounds weird, no VSC ABS lights are on, and ABS is engaging
How do i know ABS is engaging? coz i can feel it, brake pedal is pulsating and ABS pump is making typical noise at the same time. Lexus dealer said it is either rotors or speed sensor but we don't know if this is left or right one, and if this is speed sensor at all?

I think that mistake i've done before, i failed to disconnect battery. I did some research and found out that speed sensor tip is actually magnet reading electrical wave's. I belive that when i was working on my suspention on saturday i've placed speed sensor close to other (metal parts) which caused speed sensor to read false signal, thats my little theory
Anyway, some cleaning and reseting ECU helped, ABS doesn't act weird anymore-back to normal, ehhhh
I hope this short thread will be helpful to all of us for future reference

Jake,
When we were putting back the castor arm with new bushing, we did put some stress on the speed sensor and I was worrying that could have caused the issue.
I am glad that your problem went away.
Moral of the story. Always disconnec the negative terminal of your battery when you have to remove any electrical parts.
It is better to be safe than sorry.
I am sure you are enjoying your new suspension with more road feels.
talk to you later,
Ben

Jake,
So how do the new bushings feel? Specifically on 294 close to your place? Any wierd vibrations or harshness.
A few weeks ago I changed my 18 inch rims to stock 16 and I am loving the ride. Sooo nice and smooth! But the looks are I am curious as to what alternatives I might have.
Let me know. Thanks!
