Question Assist me, please (what is this missing bolt from brakes)

does anyone know the name to the pin missing in this picture, I called Carson Toyota to order the pin, but they sent me a cylinder slide pin. My mechanic told me, this is the reason my car in having a rattle noise from the brakes everytime I hit a bump, its because this pin is missing.

huh?! that's the rear brake right? if so, then there should be another metal clip piece that does on top to lock everything in place. i wonder if that's the piece that you lost? coz' if that piece is in place it will lock the pin in place

yes, romini, this is a picture of the rear brake. When I got the car, it was like that, so i'm not sure what is missing, I thought it was just another pin which belonged there.

no, there is a piece of metal piece that goes on top of the pins. then you push it and clip it will hold everything in place

you will definitely need that

the pin holds the pad in place and the clip that you are missing is the noise culprit its the anti rattle clip and pin

If your car is certified they will replace the anti rattle clips and pins on both sides due to a recall campaign on the 98 GS model. I had both of mine replaced at the dealer because one side started to rattle when I would go over a bump.

Good Luck
