How would I know if my shocks are going bad since I have original shocks w/ the H&R? I have the H&R on for about 7 months and do not know what effects to look for.

you should be looking at new shocks in ~5 months, based on LA road condition.
try this:
go to one side of the front fender above the tyre, push/press th car down really hard(get help from a big guy if you nedd), a good shock should "bounce" the car back and stop. a bad shock would prompt the car to go up-and-down, up-and-down, none stop.
sometimes you can also feel as you drive. but in this situation, the shocks are usually at the last of their life.
shcoks are like sneakers, if you wait till the end, you would actually hurt your joints.
if you have the 98 and on GS, and would like to get the BILSTEINS sport shocks to complment you HR, let me know. $425 delievered to you, brand new, factory sealed box.

If I'm riding on dubs, is the feelings the same as if I had on stock tires?
For me, I got the H&R springs, installation, and 4 wheel alignment for $430. I got it from a friend who owns a shop in Fountain Valley, next to Huntington Beach in Orange County. If you need some springs, I'll see what I can do since your located on the East Coast.

riding on DUBS? then i would say you prob need the shocks a little sooner. low pro tyre+ larger rims place even greater stress on suspension.
$430 is not bad for the set up.
HR ~$275+100 intall+55 alignmnet.
