which year has suspension problem?
for some reason i read somewhere that the 98's had some issues?
if someone has a link to this can you post it?
i'm thinking of getting a gs400, was thinking 98 cuz it's cheaper and not much difference than
99. but if there is indeed suspension/handeling problems can someone inform me?
and also is this problem with just 98 or 99 also.
oh btw, one thing i'm talking about is the vibration over 65-70mph?
i think i saw a post on that, but forgot where.
would it be easier just to get a 2000, although the prices are much higher.
much appreciated.

I have read about some of the same problems, and looking through the service history of my 98 the previous owner took it in several times for a vibrartion around 60. I replaced my wheels and tires right away with 20's and have no problems at any speed, so my guess is this is/was a balancing and or wheel design issue. Buy the 98 and have money left for wheels and tires!

thanks for the replies...
so since it's only certin vin-numbers... was it because they were built
at a specific plant? if so is there any way to figure out the vin's?
was there a service bulletin posted by lexus for recalls of the specific vin's?
indio - was there vibration problems before your 20's?
rominl - can you have lexus cure the steering wheel pretensioner problem?
is it under warrenty / recall?
much thanks...

well i have a 98 (my car is the 6000th GS built) and when i brought it in for checking, they said i have the very first steering wheel colume design and it doesn't qualify for the change. it's only for certain vins coz' i think something is loose and thus the shaking. my car doesn't really shake at any speed at all so it's not an issue for me. if your car is still under warranty then it's free, otherwise it should be 1 hr job
