Massive Speeding Ticket in ATL
I got a 450 dollar speeding ticket last Thursday. 81 in a 55 (going southbound on GA400). This is not considered super speed. Super speed is 75+ on a 2 lane road or 85+ on any road.
The crappy part is this was the only day i drove to work in 2 weeks...i normally take Marta to work. I didnt even realize how fast I was going because the GS350 is so damn smooth =)
Anyways...I'm sure some of you have been in this situtation and I wanted to ask for some help.
Did anyone hire a lawyer or did you go take the defensive driving course class and showed up to court hoping the judge will reduce the ticket?

You should go to the court and see what they say last time I got 24 over and inproper lane change I payed 420 to dekalb county when I went to court they said that the people willing to pay they will drop 10 miles of the ticket for them! I did that! You can also plea NO Law and don't get any points on your license if you didn't used it in past 5 years!
Good Luck!

If you take a DD course before your case with no lawyer the judge will likely drop your fine but you may get the 3/4 points. Talk to solicitor again tell them you took the course.
It also depends on county. Cobb county is tough, Fulton is more lenient.

Before taking to the solicitor, i called a couple lawers and they said gwinnett is a tough county and north fulton is one of the easiest to work with. Shoot me a pm and I'll let you know exactly what I did to get it dropped.
I do have a clean record though. Last ticket was over 11 years ago.

i was about to castigate you for "speeding massively" but 81... "isnt that bad"
especially over here in socal.
i actually just beat a speeding ticket where i was supposedly going 81 in a 55 as well (irony)
in LA last year on my bike. i beat the ticket. dismissed.
here you go

long story short, you want to push the **** as far to the right (in terms of time) as you can. if you push it back enough, the cop's memory might get fuzzy and he wont even show up in court to fight you because he wont remember ****. in my case it had been almost a year since the ticket.
but also be ready to fight the ticket, in case he does show up
