Default Valve springs on earlier ISF's

I am in the market to purchase an ISF again and I much prefer the 08 because of the silver interior trim pieces versus black. I also like the all black steering wheel and gauge layout. I am just nervous about the valve spring recall that affected so many cars. I know people have said the ISF was not affected because the heads are designed by Yamaha, but is that just the rumor or is it a sure thing that different valve springs were used? Has there been any cases on the forums of valve spring failure? Also, are there any other issues that specifically affected the 08 ISF? Any input would be appreciated.

Doesn't affect Fs, never even heard of that.

a simple search would yield 0 results for isf's ...

there is no "rumor" about yamaha and our engines.

it is pretty well documented on what they did to this motor.

I don't ever recall any members reporting any valve spring issues. You'll be fine. Keep an eye out for the water pump if you're shopping my08.

I recall an idle noise/ tick on several ISF's. A couple owners took the problem all the way to corporate. I do recall valves and springs being considered the culprit, but Toyota was never really transparent with the cause. The noise/tick was much more obvious than what is considered normal ISF idle noise.

Edit: i read that it might be related to heat shield bolt posts moving around.

Actually they claimed valve guides, not valves or springs. Pretty doubtful. Mine has made the noise for ages, and suddenly has disappeared after performing my last valve lash inspection. Not sure why, and with the lash I saw, I could have easily concluded lash at the limit was the culprit, but not anymore. Weird.

@lobuxracer So what is the perfect set for valves clearances to get rid of the noise? Highest or lowest limit? Technical data says: intake from 0.12 to 0.18 mm and exhaust 0.22 to 0.28 mm.

If the valves are in spec, they don't make a noise any louder than the direct injectors. I prefer the valves to be toward the loose side of the spec because a tight valve burns up and a loose valve just makes some noise.
