I can't seem to figure it out. I want to turn off my engine and the battery still on so I can have the radio on. I was told to just press the engine start button once with the foot off the brake BUT it still turns off the engine and battery completely. I then have to press the start engine again to start the battery. What is the proper way to turn off the engine and leave the battery on so have the radio on?

You have to turn it off (push the start button) with the gear selector not in Park.

What JDR said, I put it in N with my foot on the brake then press the button, there will be a warning chirp and notification on the dash but its cool. Then I shift it into park. I do that when Im listening to the radio but I want to turn the engine off without interruption.

agreed...with the car on have the car in N or D and hit power then place car in P. but remember parking brake wont engage when car is off and you put it in P

Gotcha. IS this how it works with all the newer push start vehicles?

nope just the Lexus that I know of.. in my Maxima quick press two times and it stays on.. thanks for the info fellas I was thinking today how annoying it was but now I know.. and knowing is half the battle...
