rattle in the dashboard
Has anybody had this experience:
I have a rattle in the dashboard , seems to come from behind the upper vents. Sounds like a stiff cable or similar is hitting something. Happens only over bumpy roads.
Second noise comes from left side under the dash. Sounds like a squeaky squirrel cage wheel but only very faintly. I think more of a power wire touching a buzzer.
I like to get your comments rather than sending the dealer on a fishing trip $$$$$
thanks

It's fairly easy to take apart the center console if you wanna search for the noise in the upper vents or anywhere in the centre area. Follow the VAIStech install threads ie. SL2Vi.
After I installed my SL2Vi (I have Nav), the centre console creaked over bumps because once you take it apart once, it never goes back factory tight. Once you open it up, you can see if there are any loose cables or other parts.
I used strategically-placed blue painters tape on all contact surfaces and ensured I tightened down all bolts to spec and now the entire centre console is dead silent. Thin felt tape is the proper noise dampening solution, but since I didn't have any, painter's tape works fine.
Regarding the quiet squeak from the front end, the cause of mine was the 2 10mm bolts holding down the plastic engine cover. Coat the threads in dielectric grease and make sure they are tight enough.
