New member just wanted to hi to everyone
Hello all!
Just recently bought a gx470 from my uncle for a very good price. It was serviced its whole life at the lexus dealership until 2024. The gx was rarely used since then. Its in pretty good shape inside and out, but I do hear a ticking sound coming from the engine bay. Ive owned a tacoma before and a 4runner and know about the tacoma tick. Do these motors all end up ticking eventually? The car drives fine, pulls strong and no codes when I scanned it. The tick does get faster when I accelerate and I read that it could be the exhaust manifold. My question is, do you guy think this gx still has alot of life left? All service is up to date, im in the process of changing all fluids, replacing front lower controls arms, and getting the rack and pinion replaced.
Also can anyone recommned a good mechanic in orange county ca with fair prices? Thanks in advanced and looking forward to hearing yalls opinion!

Thanks for introducing yourself. While you didn't include the year and miles of your recent purchase all I can say is I recently bought a 2003 GX 470 with 277K miles. I would say you're tackling the most common issues that come up LCA and rack and pinions. But I have total trust in Toyota products as long as you do the routine maintenance items, they will last forever.

no tick sound. In the past with other vehicles the tick sound that i have heard was related to using poor quality oil filters (read that as Fram) that have weak (even when new) bypass springs that allows them to tick.
