Do dealers usually program TPMS without question? If so, how much do they typically charge?

For the SC, my experience has been $15 per wheel for TPMS install when I supply the OEM sensors at Costco. But they will then say their equipment is not compatible with the SC for programming. For other cars that their systems can handle, the programming is included in the $15.

I know Costco will do whatever you ask them to. But I would like to know if the dealer will program the sensors if not purchased at the dealership, if so how much is the cost for the programming?

Three dealers I have worked with allow it. They charged between 125 to 140 for the programming for an SC430. Just let them know the part numbers for the sensors you put in and they can tell you if it will work. I have only used OEM Lexus parts so never an issue.

guys, save yourself some money and go purchase Techstream for $25 and program the seniors yourself...it's really easy.

see the links below for more info on the simple programming process.

how to find techstream and what it can do for you.

another thread which discusses all of the car settings you can change with techstream, normally the dealer has to make these changes...

Remember, the 02 to 06 sensors are different than the 07 to 10. It takes a different programming sequence. The older sensors are the colors and the newer are the serial numbers.

Also cold temperature deflates tires by the force of nature by few pounds. OP, go to your neighborhood tire shop, let them scan the TPMS, it'll tell whether TPMS battery is dead. Cold temperature makes batteries weak.

Yep, that is what mine are doing now. I have at least one whose battery is weak (as best as I can tell anyway). Sitting in the garage in the 50s, they operate fine when I take the car out. After it sat in the parking lot for a few hours in 30° weather, I got the TPMS light. After the temperature warmed up, the light went away again. So replacing a sensor is in my future, I suspect.
