Default Screeching noise

When I start my 2003 SC430 I hear this screeching noise. It sounds like it is coming out of the dash but it may be under the hood because my neighbor heard it outside the car. Any one have this experience in their car?

Could be a lot of causes..

Motor mounts causing the fan blade to hit the shroud
Starter bendex hanging up
Fan belt squeal
Bearing going bad in power steering pump alternator etc

The dealer told me it was the vacuum assist pump motor on the master cylinder. They have to replace the entire assembly on the master cyclinder, $2,000.00 bill.

The master cylinder on these cars does not use vacuum.
It is completely electric.
I know this because I replaced mine.
I purchased a used Master cylinder assembly over a year ago...

I've had a similar squeal with my Es300 and thought initially that it was a loose belt, however... Try turning your car on with the air con off and see if the squeal is still there. If not, turn on the aircon and see if it appears. If it does, it is the bearings in your air con pump/compressor.

Default Fixed screeching noise

The round electric motor on the side of the master cylinder is a vacuum pump went bad on my car that was causing the screeching noise. I have it back now and it sounds very quiet.

I am just glad you were able to get your car fixed!

Did it end up costing the $2k they quoted you?
