Radiator Leak
I have a 2002 SC and discovered a bad radiator leak today. I didn't have any warning lights and the temp gauge was normal. No fluid had dripped onto the garage, but as you can see, it's all over the engine bay.
It has been leaking for about a month or two at most. I would have noticed this the last time I popped the hood, which was the last time I washed my car.
Can anyone tell just from the pictures what the issue might be? Is it as simple as replacing a seal, or does it need a new radiator? I'd like to have a better idea how bad it is before I take it in to the dealership.
Thanks

Looks like the top seam on the radiator. You want to get that repaired soon, the 4.3L engine does not like to be overheated. The dealer will cost a bunch but it is a rather easy DIY. The new radiator is around $110 and there is a very nice post on this project with photo's.

Here is the radiator DIY...one important note, the entire procedure can be done from the top of the engine.
You do not need to do anything from the bottom of the car...at least that is how I did my radiator remove and replace.

Get an OEM Denso Radiator. Plug and Play. You may need to order the foam that surrounds the radiator.

And Toyota Coolant as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I found a reputable local shop that will do it for $160 labor if I provide the parts and coolant. I have a newborn son, so not a lot of time for working on the car.
So what all parts should I get? I assume the hoses are all original. I think I had the water pump replaced when I replaced the timing belt a few years ago. Not 100% sure. I believe the thermostat is original. Should I have that replaced too?
I prefer to go with OEM parts. I used to go through Sewell for parts, but I don't think they sell online anymore?

So putting together a parts list, I have the Denso 221-3175 Radiator. Is this the OEM part?
What are the OEM parts for the thermostat and gasket?
I just checked Sewell and their online parts department is in fact shut down.
Thanks

Just go on rock auto buy the denso radiator. It's the same manufacturer, same part, big price difference. Don't be fooled by it being a lower price! It is the factory radiator. Buy your t sat too. Then you can buy upper and lower hoses and still pay less

Yes it's the right radiator. $80 on rock auto click on info you will get the manufacturing part number. The the part number you see when looking at all the parts are rock autos stocking numbers. The same radiator from Lexus $280. Do yourself the favor pay the lower price. Does it matter if your Levi's come from the mall or Walmart? Why pay mall prices for it, right.

Thanks. I'm not worried where it comes from as long as it's OEM. I just remember Sewell having very fair prices for a dealership – about half what my local dealership would usually quote. Is the OEM thermostat also made by Denso?

I don't know. But I've had great luck with beck and arnley parts over the years. 180 degrees is the opening temperature for Oem. And don't forget the o ring gasket for it.they are less than a buck just pick a brand name. Delco or gates something you've heard of. You'll be fine.

I second what Cole has told you!
Rockauto is a fantastic company with good prices and a great return policy, if you ever need it.
When I had to change my radiator, I purchased from Amazon...here is the link.
Dealers are fine for parts that you cannot purchase after market, but if you insist on spending twice the amount on the same part, Lexus will certainly take your money. They will even give you a free soda and cookie! ;-)
