Value of exceptional service record
I found a very nice 2003 SC -silver over Ecru (which I like) at a dealer, marked down from $22.5 K to $19,900. That is about $2k above Edmunds or KBB stated value. I don't know that those values are a good guide to these cars, and the car is close to a 10 out of 10 cosmetically, a single owner car, and has the best service record I've ever seen- all recommended intervals at Lexus dealerships plus additional oil changes in between. Have tried to negotiate more $$ off but so far no go. What do you guys think? Would value your input.

How many miles are on it? Has it had all the scheduled maintenance items done, including the timing belt, water pump and pulley?

You missed Harold's question about the timing belt and water pump.
Why don't you just copy and paste the maintenance records into this thread.
Then we can read it and give you our opinions.
Pictures of the car would be nice too.
Or do you have a link to the dealers page...

I’d say keep your eye on it and wait a few more weeks until they drop the price to at least KBB suggested retail. There is a local dealer selling a very clean 2004 SC with 59k miles and they’re asking like $8k over KBB retail, Ha! Needless to say it’s been there for a while despite the fact it’s one of the cleanest SCs I’ve seen with a solid maintenance history in addition. What sucker is going to pay $8k over KBB and then tax on top of that? It would be an instant $10k negative equity!
Well anyway there are new SCs popping up all the time so I’d just wait. I’d say it took me about 5-6 weeks to find my SC. I’d check Autotrader and Craig’s List every day, 5 times a day waiting for new local SCs. One morning, a new local SC popped up overnight on Autotrader at the Lexus dealership where I purchased my LX470, and all the numbers on the SC were right. The Lexus dealership opened up at 9am and I called them at 9:05, by 10am everything checked out and the SC was mine.
Good luck.

Service record value
Thanks - all the above helpful. The timing belt has not been changed and I want at least $800 for that. It's time regardless of mileage. I check autotrader.com every day. I don't have pix but the car is in beautiful shape. It's hard to find one with absolutely complete service records- I over- service my SC 400 but not at Lexus dealer. I keep receipts/records but I find most people don't.
