Movies on GPS screen even while moving (with pics)
Here is a step by step instruction guide allowing the use of the GPS screen to view movies.
I have the beatsonic unit installed
Remove the A/C, roof and GPS control, just pull straight out toward you. It has four clips
Be sure to slide the clips over. Note, they do not come out. You just move them over.
There are two clips per vent register.
Here are the clips from the outside of the vents
Remove these two bolts and two screws.
The bolts are 10mm and the screws are a no.2 Phillips.
Turn the screen around so you can get to the connector on the back of the unit and disconnect both of them.
I tried to remove pins 4 and 15 but could not get them out.<br/>I ended up cutting the wires, pin 4 is a red and white wire, this wire carries the speed of the car.<br/>Pin 15 is a red and black wire, after this wire is cut, the side going to the GPS screen must be grounded, this wire carries the emergency brake on or off signal.
When you ground it, the GPS screen thinks the emergency brake is on and will allow the screen To continue to display an alternate display, in my case it is a movie.
This is where I grounded pin 15, red and black wire, to the chassis of the screen.
Here is the first look at the two screens in operation...
Switched back...
Radio control on the bottom and movie on the top.
The movie is still playing on the top while the radio is displaying the rear backup camera.
The movie is on and I am driving.
The movie continued to play...previously the top screen would return to the GPS map.
That it!
I found this on the BeatSonic website. This mod will allow video in motion on the MFD, multi-function display or the GPS screen.
It makes the car think the parking brake is always applied.

Great question and great minds thinking the same thing LoL.
I tried it at 20mph and the answer is no, the top would not move.
To be honest, I was glad it did not because I could potentially see a disaster waiting to happen!

Fantastic right up Bgw70.
Although I still have the OEM stereo at the moment, it would be great to operate the Sat Nav while moving.
Do you mean that by cutting the white/red wire that would be all you need to do for that to happen?
Thanks
Steve

I just tested my theory and I was incorrect. When moving, the GPS still locks you out and cannot enter an address.

Try applying 12V to pin 7 on the 14 pin connector. This is connected to the passenger seat belt switch. Perhaps it allows navigation function while driving if there is a passenger in the vehicle.

I am not sure Toyota products function that way. I tried to make changes on the screen with a passenger buckled up and the car will not allow changes.
