Finally dumping the P Zero Run Flats
This memorial weekend I was scheduled to do a rotation on my SC tires. I have been running on Pirelli P Zero Run Flats. Lots of thread left but started to see uneven wear where my inner threads were being decimated. I should have done an alignment to get this uneven wear on my tires addressed.
This is what I saw on my front tires, after 15K miles (close to 5 years, averaging 3K miles per year), see pics attached.
I have always wanted to dump my run flats. After 15,000 miles I finally had my wish fulfilled. And it was an easy sell to the boss when I showed her the pics.
I took advantage of the specials this weekend B3G1 Free at NTB and scheduled a tire replacement plus an alignment, they ordered the tires and they will come in tonight, mounting takes place tomorrow.
I went with Sumitomo Tour Plus LSW (W rated tire). HTR was $10 cheaper but no mileage warranty on it. The Tour+ had a 50K mile warranty on it.
Wish granted. Pics will be posted.

We got rid of our runflats (on our 2003 SC) about a year after we purchased the car. What a difference 'real' tires make! We pay close attention to our low pressure indicators (TPMS) and have never had a problem with not having a spare.

Thanks, could not justify dumping it, came with the set of Tourmalines I bought. But now, I have been liberated!

Pretty pathetic for me to have gone through a couple of years of the run-flats! It was not easy to justify a new set of tires. But when she saw the pictures, she said buy a new set. Score!!!
I am so excited to hop in the SC with the new set of rubber. It is like riding a new car!

Mandy, those pics look fearsome. You just cannot ride around on rubber like that. Good move to switch out. It has to be the camber that we talked about. With my settings, even my first set of Pirelli Pzero Nero RFTs did not look like yours and I used those from early 2008 through 2011/2012. I must have run those 25-30k miles and while they were noisy as hell towards the end, they really did not look like yours with inner wear. My wear was fairly even. Fix those camber settings and you will be fine. Good luck

Thanks OBP and I will ask the return policy for the SumitomoTour Plus LSW's. For the few reviews I have seen stateside, nothing concerning except for the price compared to the quality of the ride. The tires were Buy3Get1 free. $158 per tire.
Just hope I get a good alignment and it lasts longer than the 6 months warranty. I wonder how they can offer 6 mo, 1 year and beyond warranty, guess it is like insurance for hitting a pothole or something.
It is true that only 2 sets of people make money, the Insurance people and the attorneys. The rest of us are just contributors to their stash, LOL!

The Sumitomo Tour + LSW are mounted. My alignment was off, now corrected to factory specs. I have 6 months alignment warranty. I will go back the 6th month and get it adjusted to what some folks have recommended to get even wear.
I must admit the Sumi’s (at least this model) are not as good looking as the P Zeros but heck I am so happy I dumped the RF’s!
And yes I have lost a little bit on the road feel, but maybe I need to bump up the air pressure a bit.

You didn't gain any positive camber, right front went from 1.1 to 1.2, left rear from 1.0 to .9. Pretty much a bump. You need to take your SC to an Indy shop and tell them to take all of the negative camber out that is possible. You should be able to get to the -.07 range on all four wheels, anything more you are going to have the same problem with inside tire wear!
