Bizzare GPS announcments in 2004 SC430
I have had my 2004 SC430 for nine years. Today, for the first time, the voice info went crazy.
It told me I was 9/10ths from the location, then 8/10ths, then 7/10ths, then 6/10ths, then 5/10ths, then 4/10ths. Then, at 3/10ths from the location be began saying "destination ahead on the left" which it repeated twice more as I approached the location.
After I parked, returned to my car and set a location it performed normally.
Has anyone had this strange thing happen and/or does anyone know what may have caused it?

Maybe it got bored...
It hasn't happened to me yet but then again, I don't use NAV very much either.

Hi, Harold:
I liked your reply.
But more than the unit getting bored I think it suddenly didn't trust me anymore.
Anyway, it looks like I stumped the experts.
Out of 166 views since I posted my question two days ago, NOBODY had the answer.
In fact your post was the only reply I got.

I've never had that happen.
But, on a related note, I always love <sarcasm> when the NAV lady tells me *not* to turn - "In three quarters of a mile...continue on the current road."

The idea to calibrate was a good one except that the system returned to normal function after that odd event. As for road construction, there wasn't any and the route I was taking was one I had taken to that same location before, without that strange happening.
Only explanation is "gremlins."
