Just found Club Lexus 1/30/15 at 1:30p
I bought my Lexus in July of 2002 in Walnut Creek California. It is a 2002 Lexus SC430 it had 17 miles on it. It now has almost 85,000. It has never been down for any kind of repair work. I have always maintained and taken very good care of it. I did research on line for months on reading up on the complaints and the positives on tires dealing with cost, brand, millage, warrantees and repairs. A few months ago I bought 4 new 245/40R18XL Mitchelin Pilot SPT AS 3 tires for it. I wanted to switched from run flats to regular tires due to getting poor milage wear from run flats.
The warrantee is 45,000 miles and each one cost me $189.00 at Discount Tire in Prescott Arizona. My SC430 looks brand new inside and outside and with these new tires I immediately noticed a much smoother ride. I put this up here on this site to tell others about my tires because I don't know another SC430 car owner here in Prescott or Prescott Valley Arizona.
It took me sometime to really make up my mind on which tire to invest in. The thing I really wanted out of new tires was a good warrantee and a smooth ride. I am not hard on my car or truck. I have only had to put new brakes on my car once in the 12 years I have owned this car. Also only once on my Ford truck since I have owned it which has been 10 years now. Murphy123

Welcome to the forum Murphy123.
You'll find that the majority of the members agree with you about dumping the run flats for standard tires. (There are several threads on it and the preferred tire choices.)
You'll also find a few threads on adding a spare to your trunk or just buying plugs and a pump.
Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Photo's Silver SC430 2002
I have posted several photo's of my car a few weeks ago.
They just put up 2 photo's one of my engine and one of my car.
Please feel free to look at my photo's in my profile.
I just was told I should think about getting rear shocks. I always
investigate everything. So I have found out after calling 6 Lexus dealers
they all gave me 6 different prices on the 2 rear shock parts. I always
buy Lexus Parts (even down to the Oil Filters).....but I will not have
Lexus put them in.
I am a woman but I seldom get taken to the cleaners.
In-fact I am an auto repair/dealerships worse nightmare. I retired out
of a 5 star dealership and I went to auto clerk school in Chico California.
I just wanted to be more knowledgeable about how to take care of a
car or truck. I was the only woman that finished the course, which was
a year long.
I always chalk my tires before having them rotated....I catch the
service repair technician men all the time trying to get away with not rotating the tires. I try to always tell other women about this necessary item that they must learn to do.
I keep chalk in my car and my truck always just for marking the tires. It does not
matter what dealership or service repair shop you go to either (I've had it done
at both) so be a wise person and do this too..... also after tire rotation always
check the 4 caps on all 4 of your tires. If you don't they just may be 4 different
kinds of caps on your tires because when they cannot find your matching 4
caps they will put anything on them. They always have a box full of left over
caps from all makes of cars......me I want my same tire caps I came in with back
on my car that I came in with. So watch very carefully every time you let some
one work on your car especially about scratches & etc .
Always have the writer note everything on the work sheet because when you
drive it away their responsibility and liability ends.....I always look over my car
before I drive it away.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Tire Sensors this is another bad thing......Always make sure the service manager or the person who is writing you up for service checks to make sure
your tire sensor light is off and writes it on your service work sheet because
if they break those tire sensors and you do not have it noted that they were not broken or the light was not on before you put it in the shop the dealership or shop repair place will not pay the $150.00+ each for replacing them just because you think they broke them. I always have this noted on the work sheet before they take the car in side there shop.
I hope some of the things above helps someone in the future and saves them
some money on repair bills on their car. It is just some of the costly things I have learned and would like to pass them on to someone else who cares about their car
Thank you for all the replies on my Thread.
