Default Rotors - Cryogenic treated vs Regular ?

Hi everyone,

Just had a question, im looking to buy rotors and I was wondering the difference is between cryogenic treated and regular rotors? any advantages? disadvantages? I personally never heard of this stuff but saw it on tirerack.com

...never heard of it either, so is there a big difference in the price compared to the regular rotors?

I have used cryo rotors some 15 years ago when I was racing Porsche. Honestly, I didn't see any better wear vs the untreated rotors. Supposedly the treated rotors should last at least twice as long as untreated rotors. I wouldn't spend the extra money to buy them.

$20 per rotor isn't bad. I remember paying $250 to treat 4 rotors back then. I think the reason I didnt like them was because the wear on my pads were more and the $250 just washed out for me to get another sets of pads. But, I was racing PCA at the time. We would used up a set of pads per race and rotors were swapped out every two races includes practice and qualify.
As street use, for the price, give it a shot. Its not going to make you stop any better, just suppose to help with better wear of the rotos.

I use the cryogenic treated rotors on my car. like bb430 said years ago they cost you money for it.
